Rector of Worldwide Evangelical Seminary, Ghana Chapter, Bishop Dr Akwasi Owusu-Bi who doubles as General Overseer of Rhema Salvation Ministry at Ayeduase in the Oforikrom Municipality, has cautioned foreign nations, specifically the United States to stop intimidating Ghana to legalise LGBTQI.
Foreign nations like the United Kingdom (UK) and the US are mounting pressure on Ghana to legalise LGBTQI.
Just recently, the Vice President of the US, Kamala Harris visited the country and asked the President of Ghana, Akufo-Addo about Ghana’s preparedness towards the legalization of LGBTQI.
President Akufo-Addo could not give a straight answer and it is at the back of this that, Bishop Dr Akwasi Owusu-Bi has cautioned foreign nations to stop harassing Ghana to accept the ungodly act.
Speaking to the media last Saturday after the 3rd Graduation and Ordination Ceremony of the Worldwide Evangelical Seminary, Bishop Dr Owusu-Bi stated that, Ghana is a sovereign nation and will not allow foreigners to compel the country to accept abominable LGBTQI.
“We’re a sovereign nation, so no country can force us to legalise LGBTQI. We won’t accept it. If the Americans say they won’t give us money, let them go because financially we’re better today than them. So I don’t understand why Ghanaian leaders still depend on them when we are better than the US. ”
He however entreated men of God and various religious bodies in the country to wake up and fight against LGBTQI.
“I want to urge all pastors in Ghana to campaign heavily against LGBTQI… It’s an abomination we don’t have to entertain ”
Ghana is currently awaiting the passage of an anti-LGBTQ+ law which will criminalize same-sex relations and their attendant advocacy.
