Member of Parliament (MP) for Odotobiri constituency in the Amansie Central district of the Ashanti Region, Mr Emmanuel Akwasi Gyamfi has raised concerns on the government’s mechanism of appointing ministers in Ghana
According to him, the system of appointing ministers from parliament is not right since parliamentarians already have a difficult task at hand.
The Odotobiri legislator who doubles as a member of the government Assurance Committee speaking on Oyerepa Break Fast Time, Monday, intimated that, a ministerial role makes it extremely cumbersome for the lawmaker to efficiently execute his duties.
“I have a problem with the hybrid of appointing ministers from parliament. Being appointed as a minster adds up additional duty to the MP’s work. We all know one person cannot wear two spectacles at a time.”
Mr Akwasi Gyamfi however suggested that ministers should not be appointed from parliament looking at the tough nature of their work
“Government should stop appointing minister’s from parliament, period”. Mr Akwasi Gyamfi stated.
