The Assemblymember for Twifo Hemang West, Napoleon Owusu Asante Adjei locally known as ‘Kofi Sense’ has called on the government to state its position on the dishonest stealing of the steel railway lines in the Twifo Attimorkwa District of the Central Region.
According to him, the activities could not be made without the influence of government officials and political figures as these evil people pack loads of stolen steel into trucks and go through all the police checkpoints in the country to their destination without arrest.
He made the statement in an interview on Rich Fm.
An earlier report on 21st March 2023 suggests police in Twifo Praso District arrested the chief of Nyinase, Nana Nkwantabisa who doubles as the Krontihene for Twifo Traditional Council, for dispassionately stealing railway metals.
The Queen Mother, Nana Abena Amoanimaa Brago III, the Abakomahene, Zongo Chief, Sairki Tahiru, and two others were all arrested for the same offence.
According to reports some unscrupulous individuals have consistently been stealing railway metals at night and trading them to scrap dealers.
These activities impede the government’s effort to increase Ghana’s railway investment.
