“Some women are using men for financial gains” – Kumchacha
Ghanaian preacher Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Prophet Kumchacha, has made a sweeping claim about the dating habits of women in Ghana, alleging that no Ghanaian woman has only one boyfriend.
The founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries made the controversial remarks during an interview, where he accused women of maintaining multiple relationships primarily to secure financial support from different men.
Prophet Kumchacha claimed that some women allegedly assign different financial responsibilities to different partners, ranging from rent and mobile phones to beauty expenses.
“This current generation of women are using men for their own financial gains. There is not even one woman in Ghana who has only one boyfriend. Some have as many as five, six, or seven boyfriends. They are using the men for susu. These women do not have jobs of their own, but they are doing susu. They have one man who pays their rent, another who buys them an iPhone, and another who takes care of their hair. So, currently, women in this generation are using men for their own financial gains,” Kumchacha said.
His comments have sparked a debate over relationships, financial independence and the extent to which people rely on romantic partners for economic support. However, his assertion that every Ghanaian woman has multiple partners is a broad claim that does not establish evidence for such a conclusion.
