The Majority Leader who doubles as the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has questioned the credibility and authenticity of Prof. Frimpong Boateng’s Galamsey report.
The former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation and ex-chair of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, released a report that was submitted to the Chief of Staff concerning the illegal mining (Galamsey) activities in Ghana.
In a 37-page report, the former Minister named top government officials like Kwadwo Opong Nkrumah, the Information Minister, Gabby Asare Okyere Darko, and others who are involved in Galamsey-related activities.
In an interview with Kwesi Parker-Wilson, host of Oyerepa breakfast time, Kyei Mensah said some portions of the report raised doubts about its credibility.
The report, which was authored by Frimpong-Boateng, accused Oppong Nkrumah of holding a secret meeting with a group of journalists to undermine him.
“On that day, the minister claimed in the report that Kojo met journalists to undermine his work. I heard the Bank of Ghana organized a conference for private publishers, and Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, as information minister, was invited to speak. According to what I heard, Kojo left the place after delivering his speech. So if that is the truth and Frimpong has stated this in his report, that alone will doubt the credibility and authenticity of the report”.
However, Oppong Nkrumah and others who were accused in the report have denied the allegations.
