A 26-year-old military officer, Lance Corporal Owusu Asante, along with two civilians, has been arraigned before the Berekum Circuit Court in connection with a suspected robbery case.
The civilians, identified as Wilson Osei Danquah, a boutique operator from Abuakwa in Kumasi, and Muftawu Salusu, a fuel station attendant, are alleged to have conspired with the soldier to carry out the crime.
Presenting the case, Chief Inspector John Kwakye Brobbey told the court that Lance Corporal Asante, who is stationed at Techiman Tanoso, joined forces with the two civilians to rob the residence of one Ajara Kramo on June 15, 2025. The incident took place at Amangoase, a suburb of Berekum.
According to the prosecution, the suspects stormed the premises, threatened the victim with what turned out to be a fake pistol, and fled with an undisclosed amount of money. The victim is also suspected of being involved in narcotics-related activities.
The three have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime, robbery, and unlawful possession of illicit drugs.
The court has remanded all three accused persons into police custody to assist with ongoing investigations. The case has been adjourned to July 2, 2025.
