Residents of Sokwai, a community in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region have raised serious concerns over a death trap bridge that connects the community and Akropong.
Speaking in an exclusive interview Oyerepa Online, Nana Adjei Addo, Chief of Sokwai said, the deathtrap bridge has been in existence for more than three years and is posing a great danger to the lives of his people.
According to Nana Addo, he has contacted the Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Nwabiagya North Constituency, Mr Benito Owusu Bio, and Madam Rebecca Yeboah, District Chief Executive (DCE) concerning the dangerous bridge; however, no efforts have been made to fix it.
“The death trap bridge has been here for 2 to 3 years. I have informed the MP and DCE for Atwima Nwabiagya North, still, nothing has been about it.” Nana Adjei Addo revealed.
The Sokwai residents however raised concerns about the lack of a public toilet and a school in the community. They indicated that their children walk to nearby communities for school all the time.
As a result, they will stage a strong protest against the NPP government if their concerns are not addressed as soon as possible.
