“Show me the man!” — Wife demands proof of cheating allegations
A woman identified as Abena Konadu has publicly challenged her estranged husband to produce evidence and identify the man he claims she was involved with in an alleged extramarital affair.
Appearing on Oyerepa Afutuo with Auntie Naa on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Abena recounted the events she says led to the breakdown of her marriage and her husband’s decision to end their relationship.
According to her, the conflict began when her husband returned from work one day and accused her of being romantically involved with another man. The allegation, she said, was based solely on information he claimed to have received from an unnamed source.
She said, “My husband accused me one day after work of having an affair with another man. He said someone told him about it. I told him it was not true.”
Abena maintained that she denied the accusation from the onset, insisting she had never been unfaithful. She alleged that the disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation, forcing her to seek help from the police.
She added, “Because of that, he beat me mercilessly, which I reported to the police, and he was arrested.”
However, she explained that intervention from her husband’s family later persuaded her to withdraw the matter from the formal legal process in hopes of resolving it amicably as a family issue.
Providing further details, Abena said her husband’s suspicions were largely fueled by an incident that occurred after she attended a program organized by a social group she belonged to.
After returning home around 10 p.m., she realized there was no food in the house and stepped out briefly to buy Milo. According to her, security camera footage captured her leaving the house, a moment her husband later interpreted as evidence that she had gone to meet another man.
“I joined a group that was having a program. I returned home late, and there was no food, so I went out to buy Milo. He later referred to that incident and said I had gone to meet my boyfriend,” she narrated.
Abena insists the allegation was based on assumptions rather than facts and says no evidence has ever been presented to support the claim.
Beyond the accusations, Abena revealed that the fallout extended to her living arrangements. Having lived in her mother-in-law’s house for approximately 15 years after marriage, despite building a house together with her husband, she said she was eventually asked to leave.
According to her, the family offered to assist her in securing a rental apartment and initially covered one year’s rent. She claims that support has now ended, even though the rent renewal date is approaching. The situation, she said, has left her uncertain about her future and deepened the emotional toll of the marital dispute.
Abena further disclosed that her husband has made it clear that he no longer intends to continue the marriage. Efforts by both families to reconcile the couple have reportedly yielded no positive results.
While discussions have shifted toward a formal divorce process, she said her husband and his mother have indicated that he currently lacks the financial means to undertake the necessary customary divorce rites because he is still pursuing his education.
She said, “His mother said he does not have money and is also in school, so he cannot perform any divorce rites.”
The impasse has left the marriage in a state of uncertainty, with neither reconciliation nor a formal separation fully achieved.
At the center of Abena’s appeal is what she describes as damage to her reputation. She claims her husband continues to tell relatives, friends, and acquaintances that he is ending the marriage because she cheated on him.
Determined to clear her name, she is calling on him to publicly identify the man he alleges she had a relationship with.
“I want him to come and show me the person he is talking about because he goes around telling people that he has divorced me because I had an affair with another man. It is embarrassing to me,” she stated.
For Abena, the issue is no longer only about the marriage itself but also about restoring her dignity and challenging what she believes are unsubstantiated allegations.
