Mr Simon Osei Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Minister has said, erstwhile John Mahama’s administration did not build any hospital in the region.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) under the leadership of Mahama has said multiple times that they constructed numerous hospitals in the Ashanti region. The NDC claims ownership of facilities such as;
Bekwai Hospital
Afari Military Hospital
Tepa Hospital
Kumawu Hospital
Konongo Hospital
Sewua Hospital
Fomena Hospital
However, speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Simon Osei Mensah indicated that, the NDC did not establish a single hospital in Ashanti not to even talk of the many they claimed to have built.
He argued that, since the NDC assumed power in 2009 and left office in 2017, they cannot point to just a single hospital project they completed in the Ashanti Region.
According to him, even the Sewua Hospital project that the NDC claims ownership of, he (Simon Osei Mensah) initiated it during erstwhile Kufour’s time and was dully approved.
“I want NDC folks to call in now and tell me; from 2009 to January 2017 that they left office; they should show me just one hospital they commissioned in Ashanti Region. Just one!
I initiated Sewua hospital and was approved during President Kufour’s time. …They said, they built Sewua Hospital but it’s a lie.” The Ashanti Regional Minister disclosed.
He added that almost all projects in the Ashanti Region were initiated and executed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
