Several people are feared to have lost their lives after a vehicle reportedly experienced brake failure and ploughed into pedestrians at Bukom Junction in the Ga Mashie area of Accra.

Eyewitnesses said the driver was unable to control the vehicle after its braking system allegedly failed, causing it to leave its lane and ram into people standing along the roadside.

Although the official number of casualties has not yet been confirmed, witnesses indicated that more than three people, including a pregnant woman and a child, were either killed or seriously injured in the incident, which occurred on Monday, July 27.

Emergency personnel from the Ghana Police Service, the National Ambulance Service, and other rescue agencies responded swiftly to the scene. They attended to the injured, transported victims for medical care, and secured the area while investigations began.

The identities of those affected have not yet been made public, and the police are yet to release an official statement confirming the number of deaths and injuries.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crash, with authorities expected to provide further updates as more information becomes available.
