Ghanaian Highlife musician Bisa Kdei has shared some of his frustrations with religion and why he refuses to attend church services.
In an interview with Accra-based Hitz FM on September 2, 2024, when asked why he doesn’t go to church, Bisa Kdei expressed his concerns about the current state of some churches, particularly how social media is used.
He also highlighted the struggles faced by many churchgoers who continue to suffer despite their financial contributions to the church.
“Instead of promoting God, people are promoting themselves, and that bothers me a lot.
“People suffer on the streets; people suffer in churches; they pay their tithes; they pay offerings; and then later on they’ll be suffering. They will come to your DMs and say this and that while you see a pastor driving a big car, living in a big mansion, and all that. It’s a whole lot for me,” he added.
Despite his reservations, Bisa Kdei claimed he was still a Christian and is considering going back to church.
“It’s a whole lot; sometimes I say to myself that maybe I will go very soon,” he stated.
He, however, shared that his wife is a devout Christian despite his refusal to go to church.
He said, “My wife is a full believer. It’s almost as though she was there when Jesus Christ was born.”
