Yahaya Alhassan, the founder of the Kunata Voluntary Organization, has urged the government to script all taxes on sanitary pads in order to make them more affordable for those in need.
Alhassan emphasized that Ghanaian girls are suffering from torment, abuse, and trauma simply because they cannot afford the high cost of sanitary pads.
He pointed out that men often exploit vulnerable girls by offering them small tokens in exchange for sexual favours, which they then use to purchase pads. Alhassan made these remarks during a recent event organized by the Kunata Voluntary Organization for the Kayeye community in Mamobi Nima, Accra.
Hawa Gambaga, the Kayayei Queen Mother, expressed her appreciation to the Kunata Voluntary Organization for their ongoing support.
She also appealed to the government to assist their community.
