Former Gender Minister, Otiko Afisa Djaba has called for some respect to caterers under the School Feeding Programme in the country.
According to her, these women have risked their lives for the party to come to power and they deserve the necessary respect.
This follows agitations from caterers under the School Feeding Programme have declared a nationwide strike following government’s inability to pay them their arrears and increase the amount per child.
Reacting to this issue on Oyerepa Breakfast Show with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel , the former Gender Minister expressed her displeasure on how management of the school feeding programm is handling issues regarding unpaid salaries and the 97 pesewas feeding fee.
She questioned why management is unable to increase the fee to at least a valuable amount .
“If we can increase the minimum wage why can’t we also increase the feeding fee too” she questioned.
“The NPP party is for the vulnerable people , many people have worked hard to bring the party into power today” …. she said .
“You must respect the caterers because they are also part of the workforce in country ” he added.
“The caterers are really suffering and we must understand that they are going through tough times to put food on the table for these students ”
“How dare you threaten school feeding caterers , you should be careful wherever you are ” she said.
