The family of former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is calling for justice following a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday at Kwabenya involving her and her brother, Kwadwo Safo.

At a press brifig, Dr. Yaw Boakye, spokesperson for the family of Apostle Kwadwo Safo, explained that an installation ceremony initially scheduled for Awoshie Church could not proceed after police cordoned off the area due to a pending court matter.

According to Dr. Yaw Boakye, Kwadwo Safo moved the ceremony to his residence in Kwabenya, where Sarah Adwoa Safo later arrived. He alleged that Sarah Adwoa Safo went there with a court injunction to advise Kwadwo Safo that the matter was before the court, and that is when they opened fire on her.

Dr. Boakye told journalists that Sarah Adwoa Safo did not fire the first shot during the incident. He said the family is dissatisfied with reports that some individuals connected to the case have been granted bail.

The family is appealing to the judiciary to ensure a fair and transparent process and is urging the public to keep her in prayer as investigations continue.

He stated emphatically that Sarah Adwoa Safo’s condition is serious and she is experiencing hearing difficulties. He alleged that she sustained multiple gunshot wounds during the Kwabenya incident.

He added that doctors are assessing the extent of head and ear injuries and have suggested that treatment abroad in countries such as Dubai, Germany, or the United States may be considered due to environmental factors. These claims have not been independently verified by medical authorities or the Ghana Police Service.

Dr. Yaw Boakye said the individuals involved in the Kwabenya incident are skilled with firearms. “Even a layman can fire a gun, but these are people with expertise,” he stated.

He also alleged that the figures being discussed publicly knew what they were doing before the shots were fired. He appealed to the President, saying the family has made tremendous efforts to seek treatment and justice.

Kwadwo Safo Jnr also addressed members of Kristo Asafo Church. He said their late father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo, had designated Sarah Adwoa Safo a maternal role within the family.

He appealed to the church to remain united and to avoid actions that could tarnish the legacy of its founder.
