Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has implored the royal families of Sampa, the capital of Jaman North District of the Bono Region to let peace triumph in the community amidst litigation on paramountcy.
A strong litigation has emerged between 3 royal families of the community, namely Yeli Kosah, Yah Nna and Nyin Nna Gates respectively.
The families over 20 years have been fighting over which of them holds lineage to the Sampa Paramount Chief (Samapamanhene) throne.
After failed attempts of the law courts to settle the issue, they brought the case before Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II some months ago for adjudication.
The Asantehene presided over the case however, a furthermore misunderstanding erupted between the families where a petition was presented to him (Asantehene) at the Manhyia Palace yesterday, December 15 2022 for adjudication.
Commenting on the matter, the Asantehene assured to give his final verdict of the motion in January 2023.
Otumfuo declared that, he will make a thorough investigation into the matter and come out with a final judgment.
He however cautioned the disgruntled families to stay away from any form of violence and let peace prevail in Sampa.
Speaking in an interview with Oyerepa Online after Otumfuo’s caution, Mr Abu Mahama, assistant speaker for Yeli Kosah Royal gate said, his family members will not involve themselves in any sort of riots that will distort the peace of Sampa.
“We’ll not foment any trouble, royals won’t destroy the town, because when we destroy it , it’s being destroyed on us… We’ll not condone to their violence so there’ll be peace, Christmas will be peaceful, and Otumfuo will call the case again in January, wherever the truth is, we know surely it will come to pass,” he pledged.
