Salinko ends public acts of generosity amid questions over his wealth
Ghanaian actor Abraham Kofi Davis, popularly known as Salinko, has cancelled his planned GH¢1,000 monthly allowance for veteran actors and musicians, citing the controversy surrounding questions about his finances.
The Kumawood actor said advice from relatives, friends and media figures had convinced him to step back from publicly supporting people, despite describing generosity as a long-standing part of his character.
“I wanted to start an initiative of helping veterans with GH¢1,000 every month. I am stopping it, along with any public generosity, due to stories circulating about me and my money,” he said.
Salinko expressed appreciation to Hello FM, actor Kwaku Manu and others who had advised him, saying he would now concentrate on providing for his family rather than making his charitable efforts public.
“I have always been a generous person. Anyone who knows me knows I can give out everything I have even when I still need it. This is not new, but I have received a lot of advice, and I have decided to take it,” he stated.
He maintained that he already supports relatives and occasionally assists strangers who demonstrate a clear ambition, but said his priorities would now change.
“Whatever I make now will be for my family and me. I already sponsor my family, and if you ask them, they will tell you I support everyone who has a vision. Even strangers, if they have a vision, I help them. That is who I am, but if I am being advised today, I will respectfully take it. No one should call me again, but all the same, thank you,” he concluded.
Salinko’s decision follows a recent controversy triggered by comments from a man identified as DBlex during an interview on Hello FM, where questions were raised about the source of the actor’s wealth and his reported lavish gifts, including cars.
The remarks generated intense debate on social media, with actor Kwaku Manu, born Kweku Manu Asare, publicly coming to Salinko’s defence.
With the controversy continuing to attract attention, Salinko has now opted to withdraw his public generosity and focus his financial resources on himself and his family.
