The Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) has condemned an incident captured in a viral video that showed relatives and friends of an accident victim disrupting operations at its emergency unit.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 18, 2025, hospital management explained that the group stormed the triage area, interrupting medical procedures and creating chaos. The situation escalated when a nurse on duty was physically assaulted.
Describing the act as “unacceptable,” management said the Ghana Police Service was called in to restore calm, after which clinicians resumed providing care to the patient.
The hospital stressed that the safety of staff and patients remains its highest priority, warning that aggression, interference, or any form of assault against healthcare workers threatens lives and hampers service delivery.
Management also cautioned the public against taking photographs or recording videos of patients and staff without consent, noting that such actions violate hospital regulations and patient privacy.
The statement, signed by the Head of Public Relations, Juliana Haruna, reaffirmed Ridge Hospital’s commitment to quality healthcare and urged relatives and visitors to respect clinicians and give them the space needed to work effectively.
