Many Ghanaians are divided on social media ever since Meek Mill, an American rapper who recently visited Ghana, published a music video in which he photographed parts of it inside the seat of government (Jubilee House).
Meek Mill was scheduled to perform at the Afrochella event in Accra, but he was later spotted with the President at the Jubilee House, along with Akufo- Addo’s daughter, the Creative Arts Council’s Chief Executive Officer.
The Board Chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), Rex Omar in response to the issue rhetorically quizzed, ‘what wrong did we do to Akufo-Addo by making him our head of state’.
“I’m really finding it very difficult to understand the disdain and the total lack of respect the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government has been displaying to Ghanaians.
“What wrong did we do to Akufo-Addo by making him our head of state? How on earth will you allow such a desecration of the seat of government of a sovereign state?” he expressed in a recent interview.
Rex Omar further stated that “This is very despicable, to say the least, now Ghana our motherland has become so cheap under this clueless so-called government.”
In the meant time, the American rapper, Meek Mill has issued an apology to Ghanaians and the presidency, stating that he takes full responsibility for his actions and that it wasn’t intentional to disrespect Ghanaians.
“My apologies to the people if any disrespect! We still gonna push to make the connection between black people in America and Africa … what I’m trying to do is more than a video and you should see coming soon! My apologies to the office also!” He posted.
