President of Automotive and Agricultural Mechanisation Engineering Students Association of Kumasi Technical University, Benjamin Ntiful, has appealed to Ghana Education Services (GES) and its various stakeholders specifically, NaCCA to give proper attention to the second cycle technical institutions in the country and revise their pursuing courses.
According to him, most students from these technical Institutions, pursuing engineering programs at the tertiary level struggle with some inevitable courses like engineering mathematics, thermodynamics, mechanics of machines etc, due to their poor background knowledge in physics, elective maths and other similar courses.
As a result, the GES should review and involve these elective courses in their curriculum at the technical level to give students the basic knowledge to ease these struggles in their course of study in engineering at the tertiary.
This according to the president, will make technical and engineering programs effective and attractive.
Benjamin Ntiful made the assertion on Tuesday 2nd August, 2022 at the opening ceremony of the association’s first week celebration at the school on the theme: ‘Engineering is the key we cannot do away with’.
He however urged Ghanaian students to develop interest in pursuing engineering programs as is the road to the world’s development agenda.
