Rev. Professor Emmanuel Nash, the CEO of Ghana Peace Awards and Ghana Leadership awards-Global Economic Forum has warned the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) against deliberate power outages on election day or within three days of the election period.
Speaking at a press conference, Rev. Professor Nash said any such incident would be perceived as a deliberate attempt to cause trouble in the country.
Rev Nash emphasized that the ECG must ensure a steady power supply on election day to prevent any disruptions that could compromise the electoral process. He also urged the ECG boss to safeguard the electricity supply, stressing that any deliberate attempt to create trouble would have severe consequences for the country.
Rev. Emmanuel Nash, also cautioned the Electoral Commission (EC) to ensure transparency and accountability in the upcoming elections. He emphasized that the EC must create an environment of trust, rather than suspicion, to promote peaceful coexistence among Ghanaians.
Rev. Nash stressed that the EC’s integrity is crucial in maintaining the health of Ghana’s democracy, particularly during the election certification process. He warned that failure to address interference with this process could lead to incidents that threaten free and fair elections.
In addition, Rev. Nash commended the Ghana Police Service, led by IGP Dr. Dampare, and other security services for their peace campaign. However, he emphasized that their efforts must be reflected in their attitudes, body language, communications, and actions before, during, and after the elections.
