Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has urged supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to refrain from attacking or insulting party leaders on social media platforms. Instead, he encouraged members to use the party’s internal structures to express their concerns respectfully and constructively.
“Don’t insult your leaders on social media. Use the party’s internal channels to express your concerns decently,” Afenyo-Markin advised.
He made the remarks during the launch of the Patriotic Institute at the NPP headquarters in Accra, where he emphasised the need for unity, discipline, and strategic thinking as the party regroups following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
According to Afenyo-Markin, the party’s loss should not be a moment of despair, but rather an opportunity for deep reflection and planning. He called on party members to set aside personal grievances and work together with renewed energy and purpose.
“Let’s not look lost. The bottle is the Lord’s, and the elephant is still mighty,” he said metaphorically, adding that the party has what it takes to bounce back stronger. “We shall rise again with creativity and a better strategy.”
He further appealed to NPP supporters to move beyond the anger and divisions of the past, stressing that unity is key to reclaiming power and serving the interests of Ghanaians.
“Let’s put an end to the bitterness and divisions. The elephant remains a winning symbol, and we shall win again — not just for the party, but to save Ghana,” he concluded.
The event brought together party leaders, youth groups, and strategists committed to the NPP’s vision of rebuilding and positioning itself as a stronger force ahead of the 2028 elections.
