The family of the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, has officially informed the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, of her passing during a visit to the Manhyia Palace on Monday, November 3, 2025.
Nana Konadu passed away on October 23, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra. A one-week observance was held on October 30, attracting family members, friends, and national dignitaries who gathered to celebrate her life and legacy.
Expressing profound sadness over her death, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II extended his condolences to the Rawlings family and assured them of his full support in organizing her funeral rites.
The Asantehene paid glowing tribute to the late former First Lady, describing her as a visionary leader and dedicated advocate for women’s empowerment through the 31st December Women’s Movement, which she founded.
He noted that Nana Konadu’s lifelong service to Ghana and her tireless efforts to uplift women would remain a lasting inspiration to future generations.
Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, is widely remembered as a trailblazer for women’s rights, a pillar of social justice, and a champion of national development.
