Dr. Stephen Amoah, the Deputy Minister of Finance, emphasized the importance of attracting tourists from the sub-region to visit tourism sites in Ghana. He highlighted the significant role tourism plays in the Ghanaian economy and urged key players in the tourism ecosystem to make strategic efforts to draw in visitors.
Dr. Amoah made these remarks during the 2nd CEO’s Breakfast Meeting organized by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Tourism. The event focused on the Regulatory Framework for Tourism Infrastructure and Its Growth.
He called on the Ministry of Tourism to develop a strategy to enhance domestic tourism, which can be a lucrative aspect of the tourism industry in Ghana.
Mr. John Yao Agbeko, the Chief Director at the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture, emphasized that tourism development contributes to economic growth and poverty alleviation. He stressed the importance of investing in infrastructure to ensure the safety of visitors at tourist sites, as it plays a crucial role in attracting and retaining tourists.
Mr. Yofi Grant, the CEO of GIPC, highlighted the government’s 14-year development plan for the tourism sector, which aims to enhance tourism performance in the country. He expressed gratitude to the Ghana Tourism Authority for their efforts in promoting tourism as a key pillar of the country’s economy.
