Election Watch Ghana, a civic group, has assembled at the Electoral Commission’s office to demand the immediate release of the provisional voter register to political parties.
The group asserts that despite the commission’s distribution of presidential nomination forms over a week ago, the voter register remains unavailable.
This unavailability hinders political parties’ ability to review and address any discrepancies before the voter register exhibition commences.
With the voter register exhibition mere hours away, Convener Mark Ewusi Arko expressed concerns regarding the commission’s delay. He suggested that the commission’s attitude may indicate illegal registrations onto the system using Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) machines.
“Election Watch Ghana will not accept any compromised register. We demand the release of an authentic provisional register immediately. Further delay will be met with serious resistance from the Ghanaian people,” Arko stated.
The group is urging the Jean Mensah-led Electoral Commission to address their concerns and ensure the integrity of the country’s democratic process.
