A presidential aspirant on the Kum People’s Party (KPP) ticket, Prophet Kumchacha has revealed some of his policies should Ghanaians vote him into power in 2024.
“When I’m elected as the next President of Ghana in 2024, I’ll make sure that rent control will have effective laws to curtail abnormal rent allowance charges,” he said on Cape Coast-based Property FM.
He explained, “In Accra and Kumasi, people can use about Ghc30, 000 or Ghc20,000 to rent an apartment for just one year, but this can’t be sustainable”. He bemoaned.
Talking to Amansan Krakye in an interview, Prophet Kumchacha said under his presidency, paying rent will be done on a monthly basis.
“When my Kum People’s Party (KPP) comes to power, we will come up with legislation to stop landlords from doing what they want so that people will pay rent on a monthly basis.
Under my presidency, nobody will pay a rent allowance for one year or two years in advance because that would help the youth to work and save money,” he added, as MyNewsGh.com observed.
“How can someone who earns less than Ghc1, 000 or Ghc2, 000 a month be asked to rent a room which costs like Ghc15,000 to be paid in advance,” he posited.
