Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang officially assumed the role of Vice President of Ghana after being sworn in on January 7, 2025. The historic ceremony took place at the iconic Independence Square in Accra, where Chief Justice Her Ladyship Gertrude Torkornoo administered the oath of office.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, who ran alongside President-elect John Dramani Mahama during the 2024 general elections, has made history as Ghana’s first female Vice President. Mahama’s decisive victory over the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, secured his second term as President.
