The Executive Director of the Ghana Institute of Governance and Security, David Agbee, has strongly criticized President Akufo-Addo’s government, labelling it as the worst-performing administration in the fight against corruption.
According to Mr. Agbee, President Akufo-Addo has failed to effectively address the numerous corruption cases in the country since the establishment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor. He is calling for the immediate disbandment of the office.
During an interview on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel on Tuesday, Mr Agbee emphasized that if Ghanaians had known that the President would not succeed in combating corruption, they would not have voted for him based on the campaign promises he made.
“Ghanaians had so much believe in him and reposed their maximum confidence in him knowing he was going abhor corruption and fight it with as we wanted intact he has failed woefully,” he said.
However, he argued that the number of corruption cases in the current government, led by President Akuffo, is unprecedented. He cited approximately 102 cases that have been recorded thus far, despite the establishment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor, which he deemed a misuse of public funds.
“The office of the Special Prosecutor must be disbanded because it’s just a waste of the public purse and has failed to hold people accountable as far as fighting corruption is concerned” he stated.
Meanwhile, he expressed his opinion that comparing President Akufo-Addo to Former President Mahama would be a grave mistake, as the records indicate who has failed in their pursuits.
