President Mahama appoints Kenneth Adjei as Defence Minister in latest reshuffle

President John Dramani Mahama has moved the Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, to the Ministry of Defence as part of changes made to his ministerial team.

According to a statement from the Presidency, the President reassigned Mr Adjei to take charge of the Defence Ministry and forwarded the appointments to Parliament through the Speaker in line with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

The reshuffle also affects Ahmed Ibrahim, Member of Parliament, who has been transferred from the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to head the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.

In addition, President Mahama has nominated Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, MP for Klottey Korle, as Minister-designate for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation.

The President has also nominated Mahama Ayariga, MP for Bawku Central, as Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

The new nominations will take effect after they receive approval from Parliament.
