A pregnant woman and several children narrowly escaped serious injury on the morning of Monday, June 2, after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in an accident at Mile 44 along the Koforidua–Adukrom road.
The Toyota Hiace minibus, registered GT 5160-17, was transporting 15 passengers from Ashaiman to Koforidua when it veered off the road and overturned, landing on its side in nearby bushes.
Although the exact cause of the accident remains unknown, eyewitnesses at the scene confirmed that the pregnant woman and the children emerged from the crash unharmed. Several other passengers sustained minor injuries and were assisted at the scene.
In a fortunate twist of events, the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Awatey, who happened to be travelling along the same route to attend an official function in Odumase, arrived at the scene shortly after the crash. She and her team immediately joined locals to assist in rescue efforts.

Officers from the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service later arrived and have launched an investigation into the incident to determine its cause.
The swift response by both bystanders and government officials was praised by witnesses as critical to ensuring the safety and well-being of the passengers involved.
