Praye announces new album project after 22 years in music

Veteran Ghanaian hiplife group Praye is preparing to return with fresh music more than two decades after emerging onto the music scene, according to group member Stephen Fiawoo, popularly known as Praye Tiatia.

Speaking during an interview at the Accra International Airport, Praye Tiatia disclosed that the trio is working towards releasing one or two new albums, saying the group still has more to offer despite its long and successful journey in the music industry.

“The three of us as Praye have plans of releasing an album or two even though we feel we’ve done a lot already. We’ve been working together for over 22 years as a group. Honestly, the industry has been fair to us since we started,” he said.

Reflecting on the group’s longevity, Praye Tiatia explained that surviving beyond a decade in the entertainment business is an achievement many artistes struggle to attain, adding that Praye has exceeded expectations by remaining active and relevant for more than 22 years.

“I always say that as an artiste, your first 10 years are supposed to be your peak season. When you’re lucky enough to still be relevant after 10 years, then you start your second half. For us, we’ve passed those stages and we’re doing extra time,” he stated.

The musician also thanked fans for their unwavering support throughout the years, crediting them for the group’s enduring success.

Addressing his political involvement, Praye Tiatia rejected claims that his participation in politics has affected his music career, insisting that entertainers should be able to perform for people of every political background.

“We thank God for being alive and for people remembering us and inviting us for shows. Me joining politics doesn’t affect my career in any way because I feel politics and entertainment go hand in hand. People can call you from the NPP or NDC to perform, and I’ve performed for both parties,” he added.

Praye, one of Ghana’s most celebrated hiplife groups, has produced several hit songs over the years and remains a household name in the country’s music industry. The announcement of new music is expected to excite longtime fans eager to see the trio return with another body of work.
