Ghanaian musician, Elom Adablah, better known by his stage name E.L, has opened up about his struggles in life after winning the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artist of the Year.
In an interview with Accra-based 3Music Network, the rapper revealed that he had to work as a food delivery guy in the United States just to keep his career going.
E.L explained that the experience of delivering food door to door taught him valuable lessons, including the importance of humility.
He said that he now uses his experiences to advise young artists who approach him for advice to be humble and to stay focused on their goals.
“Time teaches you so many valuable lessons and it changes you, especially when you go through a few things,” E.L said.
He continued, “I’ve actually passed through things and that stuff teaches you things like humility. So anytime I see an artist and they come to me for advice the first thing I tell them is cool down, you know see anything yet.”
E.L whose real name is Elorm Adablah started his music career in the early 2000s.
He first gained recognition in 2010 with his debut album, “Something Else,” which featured hit songs like “Obuu Mo” and “Kaalu.”
He has since released several albums and singles, becoming one of the most popular and influential musicians in Ghana.
In 2016, E.L received the highest recognition for a musician in Ghana when he won the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artist of the Year.
Despite this achievement, he continued to face challenges in his career, including financial difficulties and the need to work odd jobs to keep his music going.
Throughout his career, E.L has remained committed to his craft, experimenting with different styles and sounds to create music that resonates with his fans.
He has also been actively involved in mentoring and supporting young artists, using his experiences to offer advice and guidance to those who are just starting in the industry.
