opular waakye seller, Auntie Imoro Muniratu popularly known as Auntie Muni, is dead.
Auntie Muni is said to have passed in the early hours of Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).
Her son, Alhassan Abdul Arafat, confirmed the unfortunate incident in an interview with Accra-based Asaase FM.
Arafat disclosed Aunti Muni had been unwell for sometime and was on admission at the SSNIT hospital.
“She was complaining of leg pains but there was complications and she asked to be discharged but after two days, she was still not getting better and so we rushed her to the University of Ghana Medical Centre for medical attention where she was being managed, and this morning at 3 am, she passed away,” Arafat announced.
Her funeral and burial is expected to take place in Tamale today, based on an instruction Arafat said she left with the family.
The passing of Auntie Muni, who is known for her delicious waakye has left many in mourning.
She was 72 years.
