Former Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong has advised Mr Okudzato Ablakwa the current Minister for Foreign Affairs to hold his new portfolio with diplomacy and desist from “politics of trickery, and false accusations”.

In an open letter to Akudzato who is also MP for North Tongu, the Asante Mampong MP asked his colleague to uphold a high level of integrity and set a good standard while in office.

“Uphold very high standards of integrity”, he said.

Mr Ampratwum continued in his letter saying “remember, international diplomacy is very different from local partisan politics, where propaganda, trickery, and false accusations are rife and which unfortunately is your hallmark”.

“Without a demonstration of integrity and visible professionalism, the international diplomatic community will not take our Foreign Minister, and by extension Ghana, seriously”, he added.

According to the Mampong lawmaker, on the global stage, cooperation, compromise, concord, and confidentiality, determines ones success as Foreign Minister hence Mr Ablakwa must adhere to his advice to succeed.

In his epistle, Mr. Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong further asked Ablakwa to maintain confidentiality, by desisting from putting into the public confidential, bilateral discussions, or classified information which may create tensions between countries, or jeopardize our national security.

“No more I have intercepted this document, am the on trail of this and that” he said.

The Former Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister however accepted the fact that, Okudzeto Ablakwa, with the right diplomatic guidance and adjustments in political posturing, can become an effective top diplomat for Ghana.
