Popular TV broadcaster, Akua Asieduwaa of Oyerepa TV has expressed deep concern over the work of the Ghana Police in the Ashanti Region.
According to her, policing in the region, especially within the Kumasi Metropolis is not up to standard.
Her comment is in relation to a robbery attack on Oyerepa TV journalist, Richmond Frimpong that occurred Wednesday morning.
She said, the crime rate in the region is increasing and she believes the police aren’t working as expected.
The broadcaster stated that the Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Afful Boakye-Yiadom seem to be very slow in combating crimes in the region.
“The work of the police in Ashanti Region is slow, I have not even seen or heard the regional police commander speak about criminalities in the Ashanti region.” Akua Asieduwaa stated live on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, August 24, 2022.
She indicated that most crimes specifically armed robbery are committed on motorcycles.
As a result, the Police should ban two persons on a motor bicycles in the region. The move she believes will reduce rampant robbery cases.
“Ban two persons on a motorbike in Kumasi,” Akua suggested.
Recall that, the Ashanti is currently ranked by Foundation for Security Development in Africa (FOSDA) as the most violent region in Ghana. The slow pace of the police work could be a contributory factor.
