A Policeman has tragically lost his life with another injured in an accident at Kpandai in the Northern region.
The accident occurred on Sunday, October 20, 2024, in their line of duty.
The duo are said to be officers from the Formed Police Unit (FPU) who were stationed at a checkpoint.
Accra-based Citi News reported that, the officers decided to seek shelter at a filling station when it started raining while at the checkpoint.
They then sighted two men on a motorbike and signalled them to stop, but the men sped off.
The officers decided to pursue the men on the motorbike and unfortunately collided with a pedestrian.
The pillion officer was thrown off the bike, hitting his head on the ground.
He was rushed to Kpandai Hospital but pronounced died upon arrival.
The officer who was riding the motor also sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Kpandai District Hospital.
The two men being pursued were also involved in an accident.
One of them sustained injuries and is receiving medical care, while the other has been arrested and is in Police custody.
