The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested a young five-member criminal gang accused of robbing and sexually assaulting young women in Juaso and its surrounding areas.

The suspects, David Adusah (19), Samuel Amantor (21), Andrew Odei (21), Sharif Mohammed (18), and Joseph Addo Ofori (22), appeared before the Konongo District Court on January 8, 2026, and were remanded into custody to reappear on January 28, 2026.

According to the police, the gang operated between August and November 2025, targeting female victims by luring them into a rented private vehicle under the guise of offering transportation, before driving them to isolated locations along the Morso Road to rob and sexually assault them.

Detailing the group’s modus operandi, ACP Cephas Arthur of the Ashanti South Regional Police Command in a press conference on January 13, 2025, said the suspects deliberately prey on women at night.

“Juaso police have been recording crimes of robbery and rape. These suspects who are very young, operate with a rented private vehicle to lure their victims mostly female under the guise of offering them a ride to their destination. They operate from 8pm to 2am,” he said.

ACP Arthur recounted that the first reported incident which occurred on August 15, 2025, involved three students.

“On August 15, 2025, these suspects picked up three ladies who were having remedials at one of the schools who were in need of a transport to town. The suspects robbed the victims of their entire belongings along the Morso road in Juaso and leaving them behind,” he stated.

He said a second attack was reported on October 2, 2025, where the gang allegedly escalated their crimes to rape.

“The second incident occurred on October 2, 2025, where they picked up two ladies. They engaged them in a love conversation convincing them to board their vehicle where they robbed them off their phones and raped them along the Morso road,” ACP Arthur disclosed.

He further revealed that on November 10, 2025, the gang forcibly abducted another victim.

“On November 10, 2025, they picked up a lady walking home by the roadside and offered to give her a ride home. The lady however hesitated in getting into the car but was held at knife point by the suspects and forced into the car and robbed of her phone. They proceeded to rape her as well,” he said.

The police added that the gang remained active into the new year, committing another robbery on January 2, 2026, this time in Kumasi.
“This same gang on January 2, 2026, picked up a lady at Abrepo junction in Kumasi to their usual spot and robbed her off her phone. They attempted to rape her but realised she had menstruated and let her go,” ACP Arthur noted.

Meanwhile, the suspects are in police custody.
