Police reinforce Security in Nkwanta after renewed violence

The Ghana Police Service has deployed additional personnel and equipment to Nkwanta following a resurgence of violent attacks in the area.

In a statement issued on March 26 by the Police Regional Headquarters in Dambai, authorities said the Inspector-General of Police had dispatched two armoured vehicles along with officers from the National Police Operations unit to bolster security. The situation has since been brought under control.

Police confirmed the recovery of five bodies—three males and two females—from two separate locations within the Nkwanta South Municipality. The operation was conducted by a joint team made up of the Police, Military, Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), Defence Intelligence, and the Ghana National Fire Service.

Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the attacks and to track down those responsible.

Residents have been urged to remain calm and support security agencies by providing credible information. The public has also been cautioned against spreading misinformation that could further inflame tensions.
