Police investigate alleged assault and blackmail of woman after nude video circulates online

Police in Tamale in the Northern Region have launched investigations into the alleged assault, filming and attempted blackmail of a young woman following the circulation of her nude video on social media.

According to the victim’s account, she was in a vehicle with a man when two unidentified men approached them. Details surrounding the circumstances of the encounter remain unclear.

The woman alleged that the suspects forcibly dragged her out of the vehicle while she was unclothed and physically assaulted her as they recorded videos of the incident, despite her repeated pleas.

She further claimed that the man she was with got out of the vehicle, spoke briefly with the suspects and later left the scene.

“I believe he gave them money so they would not release his video, and they allowed him to leave,” she alleged.

The victim also stated that one of the suspects later obtained her phone number and contacted her, allegedly demanding sexual favours in exchange for deleting the footage. According to her, the suspect threatened to release the video publicly if she refused.

She claimed that although she later agreed to meet the suspect, she managed to escape after he allegedly attempted to sexually assault her.

The videos were later circulated online.

Police have since commenced investigations into the incident and deployed officers to track down and arrest the suspects involved.

Meanwhile, reports reaching JoyNews indicate that the victim allegedly attempted to harm herself following the incident and the public humiliation that followed.
