Police Inspector Interdicted Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of Daughter

A police inspector stationed at Mamponteng in the Ashanti Region has been interdicted by the Ghana Police Service over allegations of defilement and incest involving his 14-year-old daughter.

The officer, identified as Desmond Owusu Afriyie, is currently under investigation by the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) in the Agona District.

According to a statement issued by the Ashanti North Regional Police Command on May 9, 2026, the complaint was lodged on November 4, 2025, by Charlotte Samaa of Koforidua on behalf of her daughter.

Police said the complainant accused the officer of sexually abusing his biological daughter.

As part of investigations, the victim was referred to a government health facility for medical examination.

The statement added that the suspect voluntarily reported to the Agona DOVVSU office on February 20, 2026, where he was arrested and cautioned.

Police noted that the inspector denied the allegations during interrogation and was later granted enquiry bail, pending further investigations.

“The Inspector is currently being interdicted to pave way for further investigations,” parts of the statement said.

The Ashanti North Regional Police Command assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and pledged to provide updates as the case progresses.
