Police arrest two over alleged plot to assassinate Susu collector

The suspects, identified as Abubakar Altine and Eric Tettey Adejetey, were arrested on September 4, 2026, following an intelligence-led police operation at Botwe Old Town.

According to the Ghana Police Service, officers mounted an ambush after receiving information about the alleged plot and arrested the two suspects while they were reportedly attempting to carry out the planned attack.

Preliminary investigations have linked the alleged plot to a financial dispute involving Esther Dankwa, a Susu collector operating at the Botwe Taxi Rank.

The Police said Abubakar Altine allegedly owed Dankwa money and had faced repeated demands to settle the debt. Investigators suspect that instead of resolving the dispute, Altine allegedly enlisted Adejetey to help arrange the killing of the woman.

The two suspects were subsequently brought before the Adenta Magistrate Court on September 7, 2026, where their pleas were not taken.

The court remanded them into Police custody and directed that they reappear on September 22, 2026.

Accra Regional Head of Public Affairs, Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, confirmed the arrest and said investigations were continuing.

The Police have assured that further developments will be communicated as investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged plot.
