The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect seen in a viral video assaulting a young man with a machete near a fuel tanker.
In an official statement shared on the Police Service’s Facebook page today, the suspect has been identified as Dawuda Sumaila. He was arrested on 9th April 2025 through an intelligence-led operation.
Sumaila, who works as a driver’s mate for a fuel tanker, is currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
The violent incident took place on Friday, 4th April 2025, at Anyinam in the Eastern Region. The disturbing footage, which has been widely circulated on social media, sparked public outrage and led to swift intervention by law enforcement.
Police say investigations are still underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
