The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested seven people in a series of intelligence-led operations targeting suspected narcotics activities in parts of the region.

The arrests were carried out on Thursday, August 20, 2026, by the IGP Special Operations Team (SOT) at Ejisu, Abrepo Junction and Atimatim.

According to the Head of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo, the operations followed intelligence gathered on suspected drug-related activities in the three areas.

At Ejisu, the team arrested two men identified as 43-year-old Nana Kwadwo Adu and 48-year-old Nana Kwame Fella.

Four other suspects were apprehended at Abrepo Junction. They have been identified as 23-year-old Stephanie Anokye, 20-year-old Roland Anokye, 30-year-old Gideon Owusu and 27-year-old Grace Fosua.

At Atimatim, the police arrested 27-year-old Kofi Opoku, who was allegedly involved in the sale of narcotic substances and had previously evaded arrest.

Suspected drugs recovered

The operations also resulted in the seizure of substances and medicines suspected to be narcotics or unregistered drugs.

The items recovered included several pill pouches containing dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances, as well as quantities of Tramaking 225mg and 250mg, Royal 255mg and Rophynol 100mg.

Police also seized 860 Tramadol tablets and capsules, alongside an unspecified amount of Ghanaian currency.

The Police said the recovered items would form part of the ongoing investigations into the suspected activities.

Suspects assisting investigations

The seven suspects remain in Police custody and are assisting investigators as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged drug activities.

According to the Police, investigators will seek to determine the source of the substances, establish the extent of each suspect’s involvement and identify other individuals who may be connected to the alleged operations.

The Police said the arrests form part of ongoing efforts to disrupt suspected narcotics-related activities in the Ashanti Region.
