The Ghana Police Service has arrested four suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of a mobile money (MoMo) vendor at Gbagblakope, near the Diamond Cement factory in Aflao, Volta Region.
According to a statement issued by the Volta Regional Police Command on May 12, 2025, the arrests were made during a targeted, intelligence-led operation on May 10.
The operation was carried out by a combined team from the Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID), the SWAT Unit, the Operation Motherland Taskforce, and a local community watch group known as ‘ACTION NOW’.
The suspects have been identified as Michael Sewornu, 34; Korku Agboada, 43; Atsu Agbagla, 36; and Utsuku Onyeso, 22, a Nigerian national. All four are currently in custody and assisting police with ongoing investigations.
The incident occurred on April 28, 2025, around 6:15 p.m., when five armed men reportedly attacked and shot Christopher Ahordo, a mobile money vendor, during a robbery. The assailants made off with a bag believed to contain an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene.
Police say efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fifth suspect and recover the stolen funds.
Police say the suspects will be arraigned before court on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
