The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested Alhaji Sofo Azorka in connection with an alleged assault on Alhaji Masawudu Osman, the Third National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), during the Akwatia by-elections on September 2, 2025.
A police statement confirmed that Alhaji Azorka was picked up in Tamale on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, as part of ongoing investigations into the incident. He has since given a caution statement to the police and been granted bail.
He is scheduled to report to the Eastern South Regional Police Command in Kyebi on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., where he will be formally arraigned before court.
“The police assures the public of a thorough investigation into the matter and urges everyone to remain calm as further developments will be communicated,” the statement added.
