The Western North Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has arrested five suspects believed to be behind a string of robberies in Sefwi Bekwai and its surrounding communities. The arrests follow several weeks of sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and targeted operations by the police.
Addressing the media, the Western North Regional Police Commander, DCOP Dr. Francis Tsidi, said the successful operation reflects the Ghana Police Service’s renewed commitment to combating violent crime and ensuring safety and security across the region.
According to him, the suspects, who are alleged to be members of a well-coordinated robbery gang, were apprehended during a patrol operation conducted in Sefwi Wiawso and nearby communities on December 3, 2025.

During the arrest, police retrieved several items believed to be linked to the suspects’ criminal activities. These included a backpack containing talismans, rings, and a facemask, which officers say may have been used during the commission of the robberies.

DCOP Dr. Tsidi assured the public that investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the gang’s operations, their possible involvement in previous robbery cases, and whether additional accomplices are still at large.
He encouraged residents in the affected communities to remain calm and continue supporting the police with information to help eradicate crime in the region.
The suspects are currently in police custody and will be processed for court after further investigations.
