The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has confirmed that several individuals who initially expressed interest in contesting the upcoming parliamentary primaries in Ejisu have now withdrawn their candidacy.
This decision was made following a meeting with party leadership in the region.
Since the passing of Member of Parliament John Kumah, many party members have expressed interest in running for the seat. However, Mr. Antwi Boasiako stated that the internal process put in place to streamline the number of aspirants has been successful in reducing the candidate pool.
As the party begins accepting nominations today, posters of approximately ten individuals have been circulating on social media.
Among these candidates, former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, is considered a frontrunner in the race.
