A 43-year-old man, identified as Yaw Frank, has suffered a gruesome machete injury after attempting to break up a violent altercation at Patakro, a community in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region.
The incident, which occurred over the weekend, involved a heated confrontation between a 16-year-old boy and a man identified as Desmond Amatey.
According to eyewitnesses, the fight broke out after the teenager allegedly took Amatey’s work gear without permission, sparking a verbal exchange that quickly escalated into physical violence.
In a courageous attempt to restore calm, Yaw Frank stepped in to separate the two. However, in the heat of the moment, Amatey—reportedly aiming to strike the teenager with a machete—accidentally slashed Frank instead.
The machete is said to have inflicted a deep cut to Frank’s palm, reportedly splitting it in two. Bystanders who witnessed the attack rushed to his aid and transported him to a nearby health facility for emergency treatment.
The police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
