Pastor’s wife demands DNA test after husband claims 4 of their 6 children aren’t his
A woman identified as Sofomaame Esther has publicly appealed for a DNA test after accusing her husband, Pastor Adjei, of subjecting her to years of emotional abuse, repeated infidelity allegations and public humiliation.
Speaking on Oyerepa Afutuo, hosted by Aunt Naa on Monday, July 27, 2026, Sofomaame Esther alleged that her husband has, for the past decade, accused her of having affairs with nearly every man she comes into contact with and has even questioned the paternity of four of their six children.
“My name is Sofomaame Esther. A pastor called Adjei slept with me when I was 18 years old and impregnated me. He married me afterwards. Then my younger sister got sick, and I had to take her to the hospital. When I returned, he accused me of going to see another man. He accuses every man I interact with of having an affair with me,” she said.
She further alleged that although she supported the family by selling Bibles, her husband controlled the proceeds and gave her only a small portion.
“I have been selling Bibles to support the household, and he gives me only a little of the money I bring home. If I make GH¢100, he gives me GH¢10. If I make GH¢200, he gives me GH¢20. I never understood why he was doing that. Sometimes, he even takes back the money he gives me. He later accused me of stealing from the sales and stopped me from selling the Bibles altogether,” she claimed.
According to Sofomaame Esther, the accusations began about 10 years into their 20-year marriage.
“We have been married for 20 years, and he started these accusations 10 years ago. He has accused almost every man around me of having an affair with me. He has accused nearly 15 men, including our senior pastor,” she alleged.
She also claimed that Pastor Adjei now insists that four of their six children are not biologically his.
“We have six children. Now, he says four of the children are not his. He mistreats me all the time and says hurtful things to the children who do not support him,” she stated.
Calling for a DNA test, Sofomaame Esther said she wants to clear her name after years of being labelled unfaithful.
“I want him to conduct a DNA test to clear all doubts and erase the shame I have endured after he publicly portrayed me as a harlot,” she said.
Contacted during the programme, Pastor Adjei denied the allegations and insisted that his wife was refusing to admit her mistakes.
“You just don’t want to accept your faults. Instead of accepting everything and asking for forgiveness, you keep talking about DNA. As for the children, if I decide to do a DNA test, that is up to me. But I will continue to look after and care for all of them,” he responded.
The pastor further claimed he had reasons to suspect his wife’s conduct.
“Why don’t you tell them the truth—that I caught another man behind our bathhouse while you were bathing? When I asked you, you said the man had come for a hammer. Later, when I reported the matter to our pastor, didn’t you change your story and say he had come for a screwdriver?” he alleged.
The conflicting claims have generated widespread public attention, with many viewers calling for a DNA test to establish the truth and help resolve the long-running dispute. None of the allegations made by either party has been independently verified.
