Gospel musician and close confidant of the late Highlife icon Daddy Lumba, Evangelist Papa Shee, has announced plans to hold a “celebration of life” event in honour of the legendary musician.

In a video circulating widely on social media, Papa Shee revealed that the two-day event is scheduled for March 28 and 29, 2026, in Accra. He clarified that the gathering is not a funeral but rather a celebration of Daddy Lumba’s life, impact, and musical legacy.

According to Papa Shee, the decision to hold the event and its details were communicated directly by the late musician’s family.

He disclosed that Daddy Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, and other family members will be present. While the exact venue is yet to be announced, he assured the public that further details will be shared in due course.

“His wife, Akosua Serwaa, will definitely be there, and the family will also be present. The event will take place in Accra on March 28 and 29, 2026. This is a celebration of Daddy Lumba’s life, as communicated by the family. The specific venue has not yet been disclosed,” he said.

Papa Shee extended an open invitation to fans, sympathisers, and well-wishers to join in honouring the late Highlife legend.

He also expressed gratitude to supporters of Akosua Serwaa, particularly those who welcomed her upon her arrival at the airport earlier in January, noting that their show of love and solidarity would not be forgotten.

“Everyone is invited. We truly appreciate the supporters of Akosua Serwaa, especially those who came to welcome her at the airport. The love and support shown to her will always be remembered, especially considering the name-tarnishing she has endured over the years,” he added.

The announcement comes months after Daddy Lumba’s funeral, held on December 13, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, following his passing in July 2025. The funeral attracted a massive crowd of fans, family members, and dignitaries who gathered to celebrate his immense contribution to Ghanaian music.

However, the funeral was marked by controversy, as Akosua Serwaa, the legally married wife of the late musician, was absent. This followed a public legal dispute between the two wives of Daddy Lumba over marital recognition. The matter was later settled by the Kumasi High Court, which ruled that both women be recognised as his wives.
