Contrary to several reports circulating on social media, Oyerepa TV, a subsidiary of Promise Broadcasting Limited (PBL), has not been shutdown.
The award winning television station experienced technical difficulties last evening, resulting in a temporary disruption of transmission.
However, upon waking up this morning, numerous social media posts falsely claimed that Oyerepa TV had been forcibly closed by the National Communications Authority (NCA).
These speculations alleged that the NCA intentionally halted the station’s operations to prevent a highly anticipated interview with Alan Kyeremanten, the leader of the Movement for Change, from taking place.
According to one individual, Hon Abilolo Billionaire, the shutdown was ordered by higher authorities to prevent Alan’s message from resonating with the people of Kumasi and Ghana as a whole.
“….The past week saw them replace Alan with Alhaji Bawumia’s stooge on Peace FM upon manipulation of Production and therefore, it comes as no surprise to see them shut down transmission to Oyerepa TV while they prepared to telecast their interview with Alan Kyerematen, the Monarch Butterfly of our now desolate nation.” part of Abilolo’s statement read.
It is therefore important to clarify that these claims are baseless and unfounded.
According to PBL management, Oyerepa TV remains operational and is working diligently to resolve the technical issues that occurred.
“We urge the public to disregard these rumors and trust that Oyerepa TV will continue to provide quality programming and news coverage as it has done for years.” PBL Management has said.
